Landscape Explorers: The Art and Science of Nature (Nature Walk and Botanical Studies)

August 6, 2022, 10:30 AM

One child + one caregiver: $55 general public; $45 Innisfree members
Each additional person: $20 general public; $15 Innisfree members

Enjoy a nature walk through the garden with Horticulturalist Brad Roeller, followed by a botanical drawing session with local artist June Glasson. The nature walk will focus on the Innisfree ecosystems and how the plants are similar and different, as well as how they interact. Then participants will be invited to focus on a garden element, i.e. plant, tree, or flower. They will then be asked to sit, observe, and meditate on said element before beginning to draw it. Drawing through observation is a great way to develop creativity and mindfulness. Participants will be encouraged to observe organic shapes and to look at nature from a new perspective to create beautiful compositions that capture the essence of their natural surroundings.

This is a family program, all children must be accompanied by at least one adult. These activities are best suited for children ages 6-14, although we will work to accommodate older or younger siblings. Please dress for being outside and getting dirty; bring water and snacks.
